Power Your House with a Bicycle

In their Q/A YouTube show, NPR answers the question, “Why can’t I power my home using a bicycle-powered generator?” fromBooky_McReaderpants. And, NPR staffers learned that,

There’s a difference between the power you use and the power your body can generate.

Anybody who’s spent 20 minutes on a trainer knows that. So, no, you totally can’t power your home. NPR learned that, “The energy running into our homes from some distant power stations is the equivalent to having about 40 people pedaling bicycles for us.”
